Grateful for Friends

Geez, I kinda feel like I was on a roll for a while, and then not so much.
I hope it's because I've mostly just been with family for the holidays, and hopefully more will start happening now that I'm back into the swing of things.
But despite not have "offical missionary opportunities" I have been thinking about how blessed I have been for those that have come.
Since I've been home I have enjoyed visiting with some of my non-member friends that I have written about on this blog. I just wanted to say how much I love them. Isn't it ironic that I pray for missionary experiences because I want to do my best to do what the Lord wants me to do, and in return I have some great new friends. I will always be in debt to the Lord, because everytime I try to do something for him, He gives me blessings right back.
These friends might not be coming to church (which I would love) but it's just great to have friends.

My Advice: Keep praying for those missionary opportunities

What will I do next: Keep hoping and praying that my friends can see the joy and peace and answers that the gospel brings, and want to know more.

Why this Blog?

Recently my bishop called in all the bishopric wives and asked us to try working a little more on missionary work around us. My assigned topic for practice and someday a talk, is missionary work via the internet. So I decided that I would put this blog together to help track my efforts for myself, and others. We were also given a talk by Elder Ballard on creating a gospel-sharing home (may ensign). One of the things that he says is that in a gospel sharing home we pray for our own missionary experiences and opportunities and to be prepared to act on those impressions as they come our way. I have to tell you the truth that as soon as I read that I got sick to my stomach. I honestly have always been afraid to pray for those experiences. I think that it is becuase I know that our prayers are answered and that if I was praying for those experiences, that they really would come, but I just couldn't see how I would be ready. I felt like I would just be embarassed and not know what to say.......... So, it has been a huge leap of faith to start praying regularly to have those missionary opportunities and to be prepared for them. I am writing this about 2 weeks after I started praying for it, and I have seriously had more missionary experiences (most very small, but still) than many years combined. And I have loved it! I am so grateful for the simple little opportunities I have had, and I make this blog to hopefully try and make a differnce somehow in someone's life. Maybe reading about my experiences will give someone out there more courage to share the gospel. I don't know, I can only hope and try and have faith. :)

MY TESTIMONY

I Love the Gospel! I have a very strong testimony that the church is true. The callings and experiences that I’ve had, have only made it grow stronger. The gospel brings so much peace and happiness into my life. I don’t know how anyone gets through a single day without it? I know that when I am setting goals and really trying to study, is the time that I’m the happiest. I recently talked to family members about how sometimes I might really be down and just hopeless and then I realize that it’s in those moments that I’m not reading the scriptures like I should or praying regularly. I can’t believe the difference that it makes in my daily life. I know that we hear it over and over and over again how important it is to pray and read scriptures. But why is it so hard sometimes? I am convinced that it’s hard because it IS so important and not just God knows it. I know that Satan tries so hard to get me too busy or depressed, or just forgetful because He knows how important it is. I cannot even tell you the difference it makes in my family life. When Matt and I are saying couple prayers, our marriage is so much stronger and happier. When we are having family prayer, our home is so much more peaceful and I notice myself wanting to spend more time with my kids. I feel stronger when I pray and read the scriptures on my own . I know that I receive personal strength when I follow those basic principles. I know that the scriptures are true. I have been trying hard to study, more than just read. It’s amazing to me that as many times as I’ve read, the next time I always find more. It’s so gratifying to discover how the words apply to me and our day. I know that reading the scriptures gives me that added strength that I need, really sometimes, to just get through the day.I know that Joseph Smith was the Prophet of the Restoration. I am so grateful for the sacrifices that he and his family made so that I can have the gospel in my life today, so many years later. I have been to,( I think), all of the main church history sites. They all have the spirit in them. One of the places that I felt the spirit the strongest was Sharon, VT, the birth place of the prophet. I wasn’t necessarily excepting it so much there. But I felt the spirit testify to me that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that what he did was real.I am so grateful to live in a time of modern prophets and revelation. How blessed we are to have President Monson to guide us in our day. He is such an incredible man, and he loves the church so much.I know that the priesthood is God’s power on earth and that it is real.I know that the Savior lived and died for each of us and that through Him we can return to our Father in Heaven. If we repent and take advantage of Jesus Christ’s Atonement we can reach Exaltation, and live with our families forever. I know the Atonement is real. I have felt the healing power in my own life and have seen it heal those close to me. It’s just so humbling to know that God loves us so much that he provided a Savior so that we can return to Him someday. I know that Heavenly Father knows ME and loves ME. Simple little me, with my mundane problems and worries. But I know that He hears and answers my prayers. I am so grateful for the peace and happiness that is in my life just because of the gospel. I don't know how I would get through life without it. I am so, so blessed.And this is my testimony, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
